Apartment 105

This first floor apartment located in Park Central was recently transformed into the client’s desire to enhance the connection to a beautifully manicured exterior landscape and to reflect its bright openness internally. Light tones, natural finishes and soft textures were employed to embrace the verdant outlook, harness its vibrancy, and reflect it in a controlled, elegant, and cosy manner. The apartment was a design collaboration between architects, Winter Architecture and interior designer, Karen Butler to achieve the appropriate response to the clients’ needs and unique personality. The space was adapted to accommodate playful grandchildren, as well as allow graceful ageing in place. The floor plan was opened by removing a dividing wall closing off the kitchen and living areas, replaced by a light reflective island bench, further drawing in the presence of the external garden. Fixed upholstered banquette breakfast seating to further enjoy the leafy setting embraces the scale of the project, enhancing the spatial character of the existing shell. Existing timber parquetry flooring was recovered and nursed to prominence with a gentle sand and stain, further imbuing the space with the delicate balance of warmth and light that the clients were seeking.
